Manila: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Monday left for an official US visit for talks with President Donald Trump, marking his first trip to the country in seven years: The visit is significant as it is the first since Trump's initial term.

According to Anadolu Agency, bin Salman is scheduled to meet Trump on Tuesday at the White House. The royal court has announced that the prince will discuss boosting bilateral relations across multiple fields with Trump during the visit.

The three-day visit is expected to include the signing of economic and defense agreements, as well as discussions on Middle East issues, including the prospects for normalizing relations with Israel. The visit is particularly noteworthy as it follows recent defense talks between the two countries.

Bin Salman last visited the US in March 2018, when he met Trump during his first presidency. This visit also coincides with the introduction of a US draft resolution at the UN Security Council on Trump's plan for the Gaza Strip. Several countries, including Saudi Arabia, have expressed support for the plan, despite Israeli concerns that it could lead to the establishment of a Palestinian state.
