Moscow: Russia has proposed resuming direct flights with the United States, but so far, it has received no response from Washington, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated. The announcement was made during a media forum held in Moscow, as reported by state news agency TASS.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zakharova highlighted that the proposal aims to restore significant routes, including those connecting Moscow to New York and Washington. While the Russian side has expressed its readiness, the decision now hinges on the American response. "As for how flights will operate, that's a question for the US. We made a proposal to resume direct flights . There's still no answer," Zakharova remarked.

In addition to the proposal for direct flights, Zakharova addressed the issue of visa procedures between the two countries. She emphasized that Russia continues to issue visas promptly to US citizens, despite American-imposed restrictions. Zakharova noted that, in contrast, US missions have tightened visa procedures for Russians, particularly in response to Moscow's diplomatic expulsions. She explained that American applicants can obtain Russian visas easily, while Russians face protracted waiting times, often needing to travel abroad for interviews with appointments taking "six months or more."

Zakharova underscored that Russia's approach is not to retaliate against individuals for the policies of their governments. "We never take it out on people; we never take revenge on individuals for the mistakes of their regimes," she stated, reaffirming Russia's commitment to swiftly issuing visas to Americans.
