Gaza city: At least 25 Palestinians were killed and 77 others injured in Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, marking a new violation of a fragile ceasefire deal in place since last month. The Health Ministry reported that some of the injured civilians are in critical condition.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Israeli army launched a series of strikes in several areas in Gaza on Wednesday evening, claiming the attacks were in response to gunfire targeting its force in Rafah in southern Gaza. Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal noted that the strikes targeted several areas in Gaza since the afternoon.

Basal stated that the attacks began with artillery shelling targeting a house in the Shujaiya neighborhood in Gaza City, resulting in the death of a young Palestinian. Another strike in the same neighborhood hit a civilian gathering, killing one more civilian and injuring many others. Israeli warplanes also targeted the headquarters of Gaza's Endowments Ministry in the Zeitoun neighborhood, killing five people, including a pregnant woman and a girl.

In southern Gaza, an Israeli strike on a group of civilians in Khan Younis resulted in the deaths of three Palestinians and left several others injured. An Anadolu correspondent reported that the attacks targeted areas from which the Israeli army had withdrawn under the ceasefire deal effective from October 10.

The Palestinian group Hamas condemned the Israeli attacks as a 'horrific massacre' and 'a dangerous escalation.' They accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of seeking to resume genocide against the Palestinian people and dismissed Israeli claims about gunfire on its forces as 'a weak and exposed attempt to justify its crimes and violations.'

Hamas called on Trkiye, the US, Egypt, and Qatar, as guarantors of the ceasefire agreement, to exert immediate pressure on Israel to cease its violations, which threaten the ceasefire. Since October 2023, the Israeli army has reportedly killed nearly 70,000 people in Gaza, mostly women and children, and injured over 170,000, leaving the enclave in ruins.
