Ankara: Trkiye's e-commerce spending per capita reached $276.7, close to the global figure of $301 as of November, according to the Turkish Trade Ministry. The Trade Ministry has released a guide on e-export markets and customs practices in 25 countries, aiming to provide Turkish exporters with strategic road maps for tapping into potential markets.
According to Anadolu Agency, the guide offers essential information on e-commerce regulations, marketplaces, express delivery companies, payment service providers, and customs clearance procedures in the 25 countries. These countries include Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, the Philippines, the UK, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the US, and Vietnam.
The Turkish Trade Ministry's report highlights that the global ratio of e-commerce shoppers to the world population is 40.5% as of November. E-commerce products account for 17.9% of total retail sales globally. In Trkiye, the ratio of online shoppers to the population was recorded at 29.3%, with e-commerce making up 7% of the country's total retail sales.
The US leads with the highest ratio of online shoppers to the population at 84.5%, followed by the UK with 81.5% and China with 78.8%. China also tops the share of e-commerce in total retail sales at 27.8%, with the US and the UK both at 26.7%. The lowest rates were observed in Nigeria and Egypt, with figures at 1.6% and 2.9%, respectively.
The US also leads in e-commerce spending per capita with $992.5, followed by Canada at $513.7, South Korea at $479.4, and Japan at $477.5. On the other end of the spectrum, India had the lowest per capita e-commerce spending at $31.7, with Nigeria slightly higher at $48.5.
