Israeli Army Claims Fatal Strike on Palestinian Tunnel Emergees in Rafah

Rafah: The Israeli army announced that it had killed five Palestinians in Rafah city, located in southern Gaza. The military operation was carried out after the individuals reportedly emerged from a tunnel within areas that Israel currently occupies as part of a ceasefire agreement.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Israeli army's statement detailed that forces from the Nahal Brigade combat team identified five armed individuals emerging from underground infrastructure in eastern Rafah. This area is situated within the territories occupied by the Israeli military east of the 'yellow line,' a demarcation established by the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on October 10.

Reports from Israeli media have circulated for days, suggesting that approximately 200 Hamas fighters are trapped inside a tunnel in Rafah. However, Tel Aviv has yet to address demands from the Palestinian group and mediators for safe passage to territories under Hamas control within the Strip.

Since October 2023, the Israeli army's operations in Gaza have resulted in the deaths of nearly 70,000 people, predominantly women and children, and injured over 170,800 individuals, leaving the enclave in a state of devastation.
