Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he has conducted a series of communications with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and senior leaders from the European Union to deliberate over the United States' 28-point proposal aimed at resolving the ongoing war.
According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy mentioned that Secretary General Rutte expressed condolences following Russia's attack on Ternopil, which Ukraine reports resulted in 31 fatalities. Zelenskyy emphasized Ukraine's desire for an end to the conflict, cessation of hostilities, and the achievement of a dignified peace. He stated that the discussions included a review of available diplomatic strategies and the American peace plan.
Further discussions were held with European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Zelenskyy acknowledged the role of the United States and President Trump in efforts to conclude the war and highlighted the collaborative efforts between Ukraine, the US, and Europe to align their plans.
In addition, Zelenskyy engaged in a phone conversation with Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas to discuss defense requirements, joint production opportunities, and pathways to a just resolution of the war. He expressed gratitude towards Lithuania for its enduring support and participation in the PURL initiative, which facilitates Ukraine's acquisition of American weapons.
The Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative, a collaborative program between the US and NATO, enables NATO member states in Europe and Canada to finance the procurement of American-manufactured weaponry for Ukraine. As Washington's 28-point proposal gains traction, Ukraine is intensifying its diplomatic efforts among international partners.
