Ankara: US President Donald Trump has hinted at potential progress in the peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, sparking speculation about a resolution to the ongoing conflict. On Monday, Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to express cautious optimism about the talks. "Is it really possible that big progress is being made in peace talks between Russia and Ukraine," Trump wrote. He further advised his followers to be skeptical yet hopeful, stating, "Don't believe it until you see it, but something good just may be happening."

According to Anadolu Agency, the comments came on the heels of discussions held in Geneva, Switzerland, on Sunday, involving senior US and Ukrainian officials. The focus of these talks was a 28-point peace proposal, which reportedly involves significant concessions from Ukraine, including territorial compromises, military limitations, and a withdrawal of its bid to join NATO.

Following these discussions, a joint statement from the US and Ukraine revealed the creation of an "updated and refined" peace framework. The statement highlighted "meaningful progress toward aligning positions and identifying clear next steps," indicating a positive trajectory in the negotiation process.

Meanwhile, the Kremlin has announced that Moscow has yet to receive any information from Washington regarding the outcomes of the Geneva talks. Russia has indicated that it will await the final results before making any assessments or decisions regarding potential changes to the peace proposal.
