Ankara: Israel is allowing no more than 200 aid trucks into the Gaza Strip per day out of the 600 agreed upon under a ceasefire deal with Israel, local authorities said Monday. This decision has raised concerns regarding the humanitarian situation in the region.

According to Anadolu Agency, Ismail Al-Thawabteh, who heads Gaza's Government Media Office, stated that Israel permits only "less than one-third" of the necessary aid supplies for Gaza's 2.4 million residents. He accused Israel of deliberately managing hunger in Gaza, causing malnutrition levels to exceed 90% among the population.

The ceasefire agreement, reached between Hamas and Israel on October 10, stipulated that 600 trucks of aid were to enter Gaza daily. However, Israel has not adhered to this agreement, launching near-daily attacks that have resulted in the deaths of at least 342 Palestinians since the agreement was signed.

Thawabteh also highlighted that Israel continues to prohibit the entry of heavy machinery and equipment needed by civil defense teams to recover bodies from the rubble, which he described as a flagrant violation of humanitarian laws. He labeled these actions as a "compound crime" consisting of deliberate starvation of civilians and obstruction of relief.

He called on mediators and ceasefire guarantors to exert serious and effective pressure on Israel to comply with the agreement and halt these serious violations immediately. Since October 2023, the Israeli army's offensive has reportedly killed nearly 70,000 people in Gaza, mostly women and children, and injured over 170,900, reducing much of the enclave to rubble.
