Suwayda: A Syrian security officer was killed and two others were injured in an attack by outlaw groups in the southern Suwayda province, local media reported Tuesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, outlaw groups targeted a security checkpoint in the western countryside of Suwayda, as confirmed by a security source from the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA). This attack comes in the wake of a ceasefire that has been in place since July 19, following a weeklong series of clashes between Druze groups and Bedouin tribes, which resulted in hundreds of casualties.

Since the ousting of Bashar al-Assad in late 2024, Syria's new administration has been actively working to restore security across the nation. The transitional government, led by President Ahmad al-Sharaa, has embarked on a series of political and economic reforms aimed at promoting social cohesion. Efforts are also being made to enhance cooperation with regional and international partners.

Bashar al-Assad, who ruled Syria for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia last December, effectively ending the Baath Party's long-standing regime that had been in power since 1963. The new administration's initiatives are seen as crucial steps toward stabilizing the country and ensuring a peaceful future for its citizens.
