Kyiv: Ukraine announced on Tuesday that a 'common understanding' was reached with the United States during discussions in Geneva concerning a proposed US peace plan aimed at advancing efforts in Ukraine.

According to Anadolu Agency, National Defense and Security Council Secretary Rustem Umerov stated in a Facebook post that Ukraine values the 'productive and constructive' meetings held in Geneva between Ukrainian and US delegations on Sunday. He also acknowledged US President Donald Trump's initiatives to resolve the ongoing conflict. Umerov expressed Kyiv's reliance on the support of its European partners for future actions.

Umerov further mentioned plans to arrange a visit by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the US 'at the earliest suitable date in November' to finalize the agreement with Trump. Representatives from the US, Ukraine, and European allies convened in Geneva on Sunday to deliberate on the proposal to end the conflict, which has persisted for over three and a half years.

President Trump indicated that the US-drafted plan would not be his "final offer," as it has raised concerns in Kyiv and among its allies. President Zelenskyy noted on Monday that, following discussions, the plan, which initially had 28 points, now contains 'fewer points' with 'many of the right elements.'

On the same day, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov remarked that the US is expected to approach Moscow 'soon' to discuss the proposal, although no specific arrangements for such talks have been finalized. Ushakov confirmed that Russia is aware of one version of the US proposal, which aligns with understandings reached during a summit between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska earlier this year.
