33,000 Palestinian Women and Girls Killed in Israeli Assaults Over Two Years

Ankara: At least 33,000 Palestinian women and girls have been killed in Israeli assaults over the past two years, as reported by the Palestinian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday. This announcement coincides with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

According to Anadolu Agency, the ministry released a statement indicating that over 12,500 women and 20,000 children have lost their lives due to Israeli military actions in Gaza since October 2023. The data, provided by Gaza's Government Media Office, highlights the severe impact of ongoing hostilities on women and children in the region.

The ministry accused Israel of committing 'systematic crimes against Palestinian women,' including acts of genocide, extrajudicial killings, and various forms of violence and intimidation. These allegations also encompass enforced disappearances, arbitrary and administrative detention, torture, home demolitions, and the seizure of land. Additionally, the ministry pointed to the use of advanced surveillance technologies, such as artificial intelligence and cyber spying, as tools for targeting and intimidating Palestinians, with women being particularly affected.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry called for sustained international efforts to end what it describes as an illegal Israeli colonial occupation. It urged the implementation of a two-state solution, advocating for the independence of the State of Palestine and the protection of the Palestinian people's inalienable rights, including self-determination, independence, and unrestricted right of return.

The statement further noted that since October 2023, Israeli military actions have resulted in nearly 70,000 deaths and approximately 171,000 injuries in a two-day offensive in Gaza, leaving a significant portion of the enclave in ruins.
