Zelenskyy to Discuss Peace Plan ‘Sensitive’ Issues with Trump

Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the "sensitive" aspects of a proposed peace agreement to end the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict will be addressed in a direct conversation with US President Donald Trump. "Today our delegation returned from Geneva after negotiations with the American side and European partners. Now the list of necessary steps to end the war can become doable," Zelenskyy stated in a video message shared on the social media platform X. He mentioned that while the number of points has been reduced from the initial 28, efforts are still required to finalize the document. According to Anadolu Agency, other notable international developments include the conclusion of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation's operations. The US and Israeli-supported organization declared the end of its mission in Gaza, having delivered over 187 million meals to civilians. Executive Director John Acree noted that the foundation succeeded in demonstrating a new method of aid delivery, although it faced criticism for not meeting certain aid delivery benchmarks. In another geopolitical development, Chinese President Xi Jinping communicated to US President Donald Trump the significance of Taiwan's return to China as part of maintaining the post-war international order. This conversation took place amid rising tensions between China and Japan, following remarks by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi regarding potential defense measures in the event of a Chinese attack on Taiwan.
