Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Finnish counterpart Alexander Stubb on Wednesday discussed ties and regional and global issues in a phone call, said Trkiye's Communications Directorate.

According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan highlighted Ankara's efforts to increase trade volume with Helsinki and expressed Trkiye's intention to advance relations through forthcoming steps. He also emphasized Trkiye's commitment to the successful completion of the peace process between Ukraine and Russia, noting that the Istanbul talks serve as a proven diplomatic platform.

Erdogan further stated that Trkiye is closely monitoring the implementation of the ceasefire in Gaza, advocating that lasting peace in the region can only be achieved through a two-state solution. He welcomed Finland's potential recognition of the State of Palestine as a positive step towards peace.

Additionally, Erdogan extended his congratulations to his Finnish counterpart on Finland's upcoming Independence Day on December 6.
