Gaza city: Six Palestinians, including two children, were pulled alive on Wednesday from under a collapsed roof caused by heavy storms in the northern Gaza Strip, according to the Civil Defense. The roof, located on the upper floor of a three-story building in the Shati refugee camp west of Gaza City, gave way amid a low-pressure weather system that has affected the region since Monday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the rescued individuals are reported to be in good health. The recent weather depression has brought heavy rainfall, strong winds, and storms to the Gaza Strip, significantly endangering the lives of displaced Palestinians. Many of these individuals reside in deteriorating tents or severely damaged buildings, which have been repeatedly targeted by Israeli strikes since October 2023.

The adverse weather conditions have already claimed lives and caused injuries. One Palestinian died and several were injured on Tuesday following the partial collapse of a rain-soaked building in Gaza City. Last week, a severe winter storm resulted in the deaths of 14 people in Gaza. Additionally, over 53,000 displacement tents were either partially or completely flooded, swept away by torrents, or torn apart by strong winds. The storm also caused the collapse of 13 buildings across the region.

Since October 2023, Israel has launched attacks that have resulted in nearly 70,700 deaths, predominantly among women and children, and injuries to more than 171,000 people in Gaza, leaving the area in ruins.
