Ankara: The Turkish Defense Ministry has firmly denied allegations regarding the vulnerability of its air defense systems following the downing of a drone over the Black Sea. The ministry emphasized that the incident was handled effectively and concluded successfully, dismissing claims of any weaknesses in their defense mechanisms.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Turkish Defense Ministry clarified that the drone was broken into small fragments, making the identification of wreckage challenging. The ministry reassured the public that Turkey's airspace is secured continuously through a comprehensive and integrated system involving radar, early warning, electronic warfare, and interception components.

In the context of the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, the ministry urged involved parties to exercise increased caution to prevent any incidents that might compromise security in the Black Sea region. The statement came after a drone, detected as out of control while approaching Turkish airspace, was shot down by the National Defense Ministry.

The ministry detailed the situation, noting that the aerial object was tracked following established procedures. To maintain national airspace security, F-16 aircraft, both NATO-assigned and those under national control, were deployed to respond to the alert. The drone, identified as having lost control, was neutralized in a secure location away from residential areas to avoid potential harm.
