3 Killed, Several Injured in Aleppo by Syrian Democratic Forces Fire

Aleppo: Three civilians were killed and several others injured, including children, security forces, and civil defense workers, due to fire from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in northern Aleppo. This attack led to the displacement of dozens of families and factory workers, according to Syrian authorities.

According to Anadolu Agency, SDF fighters targeted a checkpoint between the Shayhan and al-Layramoun roundabouts using machine-gun fire and mortar shells. This compelled residents and workers to evacuate the vicinity of the al-Layramoun neighborhood. Additionally, a civilian was killed as SDF forces shelled various neighborhoods in Aleppo with mortars and rockets.

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that SDF shelling also hit al-Razi Hospital in the city, although details on casualties or damage were not immediately available. Two children were injured by gunfire near the Shayhan roundabout, and fires broke out in the Jamiliyah and Sheikh Taha neighborhoods due to the SDF's actions.

The Syrian Civil Defense mentioned that a child and a woman were killed, and a young girl was injured when SDF forces shelled a residential home in the Jamiliyah neighborhood. Moreover, two members of the civil defense were wounded by SDF gunfire near the al-Ashrafieh neighborhood.

The Interior Ministry stated that the number of people wounded in the SDF attack in Aleppo rose to 15. SDF forces stationed in the Sheikh Maqsoud and al-Ashrafieh neighborhoods launched a 'surprise attack' on Internal Security Forces manning joint checkpoints after an abrupt withdrawal, despite existing agreements.

The Syrian Defense Ministry indicated that the army issued orders to halt strikes on SDF fire sources after neutralizing several members and shifting the clashes away from residential areas. The army's actions were described as protective, aiming to defend civilians without altering lines of control.

According to SANA, the ministry's media and communications office disclosed that SDF forces launched a sudden attack on positions of the Internal Security Forces and the Syrian army around al-Ashrafieh. The Syrian army units responded to the fire source, accusing SDF fighters of targeting civilian homes and security positions in the affected neighborhoods.

State-run Alikhbariya TV reported that the Aleppo-Gaziantep Road in the area was closed due to the attack. The SDF, dominated by the terrorist group YPG, the Syrian branch of the terrorist PKK, has not shown efforts to comply with an agreement signed on March 10 for its integration into state institutions, reaffirming Syria's territorial unity.

Syrian authorities have been intensifying security efforts following the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime after its 24-year rule.
