Europe’s Economic Recovery Set to Boost Investments in Trkiye

Istanbul: A potential economic recovery in Europe is expected to 'greatly influence' investment flows into Trkiye, as the country's investment environment remains closely tied to economic and regional dynamics, the head of Trkiye's Investment and Finance Office told Anadolu.

According to Anadolu Agency, Ahmet Burak Daglioglu stated that Trkiye attracted around $11.6 billion in investments between January and October this year. Speaking on the sidelines of the 'Platinum Global 100' awards ceremony held in Istanbul, Daglioglu noted that when converted to annualized data for the last 12 months, investment figures show approximately $14.6 billion. This represents an increase of about 35% compared to the first 10 months of last year.

Daglioglu explained that while global investment flows remain stagnant, investments into Trkiye rose around 30% in the first half of the year, driven largely by the country's tech startup ecosystem. In terms of sector classification, wholesale and retail trade ranks first in investments, followed by the manufacturing industry, information and communications technologies, fintech, and logistics. Some of these sector classifications also cover tech ventures.

He further mentioned that Trkiye's manufacturing capacity has expanded this year, enhancing the country's role in global supply chains. Investments have particularly increased in manufacturing and logistics, with European countries accounting for most of the top 10 investors. Kazakhstan was an exception, ranking second this year.

Projections indicate that similar conditions may continue next year, although long-term forecasts remain challenging due to expected adjustments in monetary policies by many central banks worldwide. Daglioglu expressed optimism that the recovery in the European region will positively impact investments into Trkiye.

Looking ahead, Daglioglu highlighted that 2026 will mark the 20th anniversary of Trkiye's Investment and Finance Office. The office plans to continue its activities to reach global investors at both promotional and international events. He also pointed out the significance of the UN Climate Change Conference, COP31, next year, which is anticipated to be a milestone for Trkiye. The event will bring together many world leaders, government officials, and global institutions, offering a significant opportunity for Trkiye's business community.
