Damascus: Syria denied on Thursday media reports about reaching a new deal with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Syria's Deputy Minister of Information Obada Koujan stated that communications with the SDF are currently suspended. Koujan emphasized that the figures being circulated are more aligned with desires and wishes rather than facts, as expressed on the US social media company Facebook. He urged media outlets to refrain from publishing information that he described as 'false and misleading.'

According to Anadolu Agency, presidential adviser for media affairs Ahmad Muaffaq Zaidan noted that the SDF's options have narrowed. Zaidan remarked that the SDF must bear responsibility for not fulfilling commitments it made in the presence of major powers such as Turkey and the US on March 10. He highlighted that celebrations marking the first anniversary of Bashar al-Assad's fall demonstrated Syria's internal unity and international support for the 'new Syria.'

The SDF, which is dominated by the YPG, the Syrian branch of the PKK, had signed an agreement on March 10 for integration into state institutions. This agreement reaffirmed Syria's territorial unity and rejected any attempts at division. Since then, Syrian authorities claim the SDF has not shown efforts to meet the agreement's terms.

Following the fall of the Assad regime last December after 24 years in power, the Syrian government has been intensifying security efforts.
