Tel aviv: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu departed Tel Aviv on Sunday for a significant visit to the United States, where he is set to engage in discussions with President Donald Trump and other key officials, as reported by local media.

According to Anadolu Agency, Netanyahu, accompanied by his spouse Sara and a delegation, commenced a "political visit to Florida," as announced by Israel's public broadcaster KAN. The visit's highlight includes a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Monday, followed by a meeting with President Trump at his Mar-a-Lago residence at 22.30 pm Israel time (2030 GMT).

While the specifics of the second day's agenda remain undisclosed, the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth has indicated a potential meeting with US Vice President J.D. Vance on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Netanyahu is set to engage with US evangelical figures and participate in an event at a Miami synagogue alongside his wife. This event is expected to draw members of the US Congress and leaders of the Jewish community, as per a statement from his office.

The visit is scheduled to conclude on Thursday. Central to the agenda of the talks between Netanyahu and Trump is the Gaza ceasefire and the transition to the second phase of the deal. The ceasefire, which began on October 10, brought an end to two years of conflict that resulted in the deaths of over 71,200 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, and left more than 171,200 injured since October 2023.
