Ankara: Trkiye stressed the importance of stability in Venezuela and called on all parties to act with restraint following recent US military strikes on Venezuelan soil and the reported capture of its president, Nicolas Maduro. The country's Foreign Ministry underscored the need to prevent the situation from worsening regional and international security.

According to Anadolu Agency, Ankara is closely monitoring the developments in Venezuela and expressed its willingness to aid in resolving the crisis within the bounds of international law. The ministry highlighted that the Turkish Embassy in Caracas is maintaining continuous communication and coordination with Turkish citizens residing in Venezuela.

Venezuela's government has accused the US of attacking both civilian and military installations across several states, declaring a national emergency in response to the strikes. The situation escalated as US President Donald Trump confirmed on his social media platform, Truth Social, that the US had launched a "large scale" operation, capturing President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, who were reportedly flown out of the country.

The strikes follow prolonged tensions between the US and Venezuela, with the US alleging Maduro's involvement in drug trafficking activities. Maduro has consistently denied these accusations and had shown readiness for dialogue before the escalation.
