Moscow: Russia has strongly condemned the reported US military strikes on Venezuela, declaring them a clear violation of international law. In a statement released on Saturday, Russian officials criticized the US actions, asserting that they lack substantive justification.

According to Anadolu Agency, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council, Konstantin Kosachev, emphasized that Venezuela has not posed any threat to the United States. He argued that the military operation, along with recent actions against Venezuela, holds no substantive basis. Kosachev voiced his concerns on Telegram, stating that international law, rather than arbitrary rules, should dictate global order. He stressed that such violations of international law must not be allowed to prevail.

Kosachev expressed confidence that the international community would distance itself from the US actions and firmly condemn the attack on Venezuela. In a related response, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova informed state media, including RIA, that Moscow would soon issue an official statement regarding the developments in Venezuela.

The tensions escalated following reports of multiple strong explosions in Venezuela's capital, which the Venezuelan government attributed to US military strikes. Citing US officials, CBS News reported that President Donald Trump ordered strikes targeting military facilities within Venezuela. Videos shared on social media depicted thick smoke and air-raid sirens, underscoring the gravity of the situation.
