Caracas: The UN's top counterterrorism and human rights expert has denounced the recent US military actions against Venezuela, labeling them as 'illegal aggression.' Ben Saul, the expert in question, specifically criticized the strikes and the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife. Saul emphasized the severity of the situation by stating, "Every Venezuelan life lost is a violation of the right to life." He further called for the impeachment and investigation of President Trump for the alleged killings associated with the strikes.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Venezuelan government accused the United States of targeting both civilian and military installations across multiple states. In response to the attacks, Venezuela declared a state of emergency. These developments have escalated ongoing tensions between the US and Venezuela, with the latter repeatedly denying US accusations of drug trafficking against President Maduro.

President Trump, meanwhile, confirmed the execution of a "large scale" strike on his social media platform, Truth Social. He announced that Maduro and his wife had been captured and transported out of Venezuela. This aggressive move follows several months of heightened tension, during which Maduro denied any involvement in drug trafficking and expressed a willingness to engage in dialogue with the US.
