Brussels: Euro area annual inflation was at 2% in December 2025, down from 2.1% in November, provisional figures from Eurostat showed on Wednesday. Services had the highest annual rate in December at 3.4%, though slightly reduced from November's 3.5%. This was followed by food, alcohol, and tobacco, which saw an increase to 2.6% from 2.4% in the previous month. Non-energy industrial goods decreased to 0.4% from 0.5%, while energy prices significantly dropped, with a rate of minus 1.9% compared to minus 0.5% in November.

According to Anadolu Agency - English, the countries experiencing the highest price increases included Estonia and Slovakia, both at 4.1%, followed by Austria at 3.9%, and Croatia at 3.8%. In contrast, the Greek Cypriots experienced the lowest inflation rate at 0.1%, with France at 0.8% and Italy at 1.2% trailing behind.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices in the eurozone rose by 0.2% in December, indicating a modest increase in overall consumer costs.
