Aleppo: Detainees escaped from a prison in an area controlled by the PKK/YPG terrorist groups operating under the name of SDF in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo, amid escalation by the group in the area, the SANA news agency reported.

According to Anadolu Agency - English, a Syrian security source informed SANA that prisoners fled from a jail in the Al-Shaqif area, which is under SDF control. The number of escapees has not been specified.

Separately, the Syrian Civil Defense reported the evacuation of 850 civilians from Aleppo due to deteriorating humanitarian conditions and shelling by the SDF. The evacuation was conducted through two assembly points in the Al-Awarid area and Zuhur Street, as more residents fled neighborhoods affected by SDF shelling.

The Aleppo Internal Transport Company stated that it has mobilized all its technical and human resources, with its bus fleet operating at full capacity to transport affected residents and displaced individuals to temporary shelters. These measures are intended to ensure safety and alleviate the suffering of civilians amidst the ongoing events.

Developments occurred as the Syrian army declared that SDF's military positions in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods of Aleppo are 'legitimate targets' following the group's escalation and actions in the province. This follows renewed SDF shelling of residential neighborhoods in Aleppo, a day after attacks that resulted in at least five deaths and 16 injuries.

The army's Operations Authority announced that the two neighborhoods would be considered closed military zones after 3 pm local time, urging civilians to avoid SDF positions and declaring a complete movement ban in these areas from that time.

On March 10, an agreement was announced for the integration of the SDF into state institutions, reaffirming Syria's territorial unity. However, Syrian authorities claim that the SDF has not made efforts to comply with the agreement's terms.
