Brussels: The euro area's unemployment rate fell to 6.3% in November, down from 6.4% in October, as reported by Eurostat on Thursday.

According to Anadolu Agency - English, market expectations had anticipated the unemployment rate would remain steady at 6.4% for November. Across the broader European Union, the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 6% during the same period.

Eurostat's figures indicated that approximately 13.22 million individuals were unemployed in the EU in November, with 10.94 million of these in the eurozone. From October to November, there was a decrease of 97,000 unemployed people in the EU and a reduction of 71,000 in the euro area.

Youth unemployment continues to be a significant issue, with about 2.92 million individuals aged 25 and under unemployed across the EU, including 2.32 million within the eurozone. The youth unemployment rate slightly decreased to 15.1% in the EU from 15.2% the previous month, while it remained at 14.6% in the eurozone.

Spain recorded the highest overall unemployment rate at 10.4%, whereas Malta had the lowest rate at 3.1% in November. The euro area, also known as EA20, consists of EU member countries that have adopted the euro as their single currency.
