Madrid: Spain has expressed its readiness to deploy peacekeeping forces to both Ukraine and Palestine, as announced by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez. Speaking at the 10th Conference of Ambassadors in Madrid, Sanchez revealed Spain's intention to contribute to global security efforts by sending peacekeepers to these regions "when that opportunity arises."

According to Anadolu Agency - English, Prime Minister Sanchez emphasized Spain's active role in the design and implementation of a new global security architecture. He mentioned plans to seek parliamentary approval for deploying Spanish troops to Ukraine if a peace process is initiated. Sanchez also highlighted Spain's commitment to pursuing peace efforts in the Middle East, with the potential for Spanish involvement following progress toward the recognition of Israel and Palestine as two states.

Sanchez's comments mark the first time he has publicly mentioned Spain's possible participation in a future multinational peacekeeping force, as outlined in an international roadmap agreed upon by Israel, the US, and Hamas. Currently, Spain's involvement in the region is limited to a police contingent stationed at the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt as part of an EU mission.
