Baotou: The death toll from an explosion at a factory in China’s northern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has climbed to 10, as reported by the state-run Xinhua news agency on Wednesday. All eight individuals who were previously reported missing have now been confirmed dead.

According to Anadolu Agency, a notice released by the emergency rescue headquarters stated that the missing were found without signs of life following extensive search and rescue operations at Baogang United Steel’s plate plant in Baotou City. The explosion occurred on Sunday, involving a 650-cubic-meter spherical tank containing saturated water and steam, and left 84 people injured. Fortunately, all injured individuals are reported to be in stable condition.

In the aftermath of the incident, more than 1,000 personnel from various government agencies were deployed to carry out rescue efforts. Authorities have also initiated a comprehensive, city-wide inspection to uncover potential workplace safety hazards. Additionally, public security agencies have taken legal action against those within the company who are deemed responsible for the accident.

Efforts to handle the aftermath of the incident and a full investigation into the cause of the explosion are currently ongoing.
