Istanbul: Trkiye's benchmark stock index reached a significant milestone on Friday by surpassing the 13,000-point threshold for the first time. The BIST 100 index experienced an increase of more than 1.2%, reaching approximately 13,007 points as of 0800 GMT.

According to Anadolu Agency, the index has been on an upward trajectory since the beginning of the year, consistently setting record highs throughout the month. The BIST 100 index began the day at 12,924.20 points and gained around 90 points from Thursday's close.

Since the year's start, the index has risen by 13.3%, marking a 28.8% increase over the past 12 months. The market value of the BIST 100 has exceeded 12.7 trillion Turkish liras, equivalent to roughly $293 billion, with a trading volume reaching 219.8 billion liras, or $5.07 billion.
