Ankara: South China Sea: A Singapore-flagged cargo vessel has tragically capsized in the South China Sea, resulting in the deaths of two crew members and leaving another injured. The incident prompted immediate rescue operations by both Philippine and Chinese authorities. According to Anadolu Agency, the People's Liberation Army Southern Theater Command of China initiated a joint rescue effort for the foreign cargo ship, which capsized in waters near the disputed area of Huangyan Dao, also known as Scarborough Shoal or Bajo de Masinloc. This area is claimed by both China and the Philippines. The Chinese Embassy in the Philippines released a statement on the US social media platform Facebook detailing the operation. The embattled vessel was en route from the Philippines to China's Guangdong province, carrying a total of 21 Filipino crew members, as confirmed by the embassy. In response to the incident, Chinese military aircraft and China Coast Guard vessels were dispatched to the scene to conduct search and rescue operations. By noon, 17 crew members had been successfully rescued, with 14 reported to be in stable condition. Rescue efforts are being executed with urgency, with China's maritime authorities coordinating additional rescue teams to reach the site of the accident. The Philippine Coast Guard has also contributed to the rescue mission, deploying two vessels and two aircraft to support the operation. However, officials have not yet provided further information regarding the condition of the injured crew member or the cause of the accident.
