Istanbul: Trkiye is playing an “extremely strong” role throughout the world today to establish global peace and stability, Montenegro’s Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimovic said. Speaking to Anadolu as he attended the second foreign ministers’ meeting of the Balkans Peace Platform in Istanbul, Ibrahimovic highlighted Trkiye’s strategic importance, saying: “In our region, where peace and stability are of great importance, Trkiye’s role is quite significant.”

According to Anadolu Agency, Ibrahimovic mentioned that many constructive and positive discussions were held during the meeting, expressing belief that this platform would yield positive results to achieve peace, stability, and common interests. He emphasized that Trkiye’s participation in platforms like the Balkans Peace Platform is very valuable, especially in challenging geopolitical situations.

Regarding bilateral ties, Ibrahimovic described Trkiye and Montenegro as a “good example of how to maintain good relations.” He stressed the importance of continuing these relations, noting that the two countries have “excellent relations” in areas such as economy, tourism, culture, and security.

Ibrahimovic highlighted the interest of Turkish tourists in Montenegro, with 165,000 Turkish tourists visiting last year. He expressed satisfaction with the interest shown by the Turkish people. Additionally, Montenegrins living in Trkiye serve as an “important bridge” between the two countries, with 250,000 Montenegrins currently residing in Trkiye.

Trkiye is the largest foreign investor in Montenegro, Ibrahimovic stated, with 15% of foreign investments in 2025 coming from Trkiye.
