Beijing: China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated on Monday that Beijing is prepared to collaborate with Islamic countries to protect the "legitimate rights and interests" of developing nations and resist a return to "the law of the jungle."

According to Anadolu Agency, Wang made these comments during discussions with Hissein Brahim Taha, secretary-general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in Beijing. An official statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry detailed the meeting's proceedings.

Wang emphasized the importance of "high-quality" Belt and Road cooperation, advocating for political solutions to regional conflicts and maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East. He highlighted Beijing's strategic prioritization of relationships with Islamic countries and the OIC, expressing appreciation for their steadfast support on the Taiwan issue.

The Chinese minister urged both parties to embrace "true" multilateralism, uphold the United Nations' central role, and adhere to fundamental international relations norms. He expressed a commitment to contribute to a more equitable global governance system.

The OIC, described by Wang as the largest intergovernmental organization in the Islamic world, symbolizes the unity and autonomy of Islamic countries. Taha, representing the OIC, conveyed the organization's stance against external interference in China's internal affairs and expressed willingness to deepen the partnership with China to uphold regional peace, stability, and prosperity.

Taha also commended China's efforts in promoting a comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian issue and expressed hope for China's continued involvement in this matter. Chinese Vice President Han Zheng held a separate meeting with Taha, recognizing the OIC's role as a key bridge in China's relations with Islamic nations.
