Trkiye Recognized as ‘Superpower’ in Global Politics, Says Bosnia’s Foreign Minister

Sarajevo: Bosnia and Herzegovina's Foreign Minister, Elmedin Konakovic, stated that Trkiye has ascended to the status of a 'superpower' in global politics. Konakovic made this assertion during an annual press conference focused on his country's foreign policy.

According to Anadolu Agency, Konakovic highlighted Trkiye's significant role following developments in Syria and the broader region, positioning itself as a key partner to the United States on the international stage. He underscored the relationship between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Trkiye as 'fantastic,' extending gratitude to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. This acknowledgment followed the second meeting of foreign ministers of the Balkan Peace Platform, hosted by Fidan in Istanbul.

Konakovic emphasized the strategic importance Trkiye places on the Western Balkans, noting that President Erdogan's engagement with each country individually during the event demonstrated this commitment. He praised Trkiye's ability to maintain good relations with all countries and its effectiveness as a mediator in regional processes.

Addressing potential changes in visa requirements, Konakovic mentioned that Bosnia and Herzegovina plans to introduce a visa requirement for citizens of another country this year, but he clarified that this would not apply to Trkiye. He expressed confidence that this policy would not change during his tenure.

In terms of economic relations, Konakovic noted that Trkiye's investment in Bosnia and Herzegovina surpasses that in Serbia, further strengthening the ties between the two nations.
