Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping has praised the collaborative efforts between China and Algeria following the successful launch of an Algerian remote sensing satellite from Jiuquan, located in northwest China.
According to Anadolu Agency, President Xi and Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune exchanged congratulations after the satellite's deployment from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. The satellite was launched aboard a Long March-2C carrier rocket, marking a significant achievement in the aerospace field for both nations.
President Xi highlighted that the launch of the Algerian remote sensing satellite, which follows the earlier launch of an Algerian communication satellite, represents another milestone in the aerospace collaboration between the two countries. This endeavor is seen as a significant aspect of the comprehensive strategic partnership shared by China and Algeria. Xi emphasized his commitment to further developing the bilateral relationship and enhancing the strategic partnership with Algeria.
The Long March-2C rocket successfully lifted off at 12:01 pm local time on Saturday (0401GMT), deploying the AlSat-3B satellite into its predetermined orbit. The satellite, developed by the China Academy of Space Technology under the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), is intended for applications in land planning, disaster prevention, and mitigation efforts.
This satellite launch is part of Algeria's remote sensing satellite system program, a collaborative project between the China Great Wall Industry Corporation, a subsidiary of CASC, and the Algerian Space Agency.
