Top Iranian Commander Calls US Naval Deployment ‘Psychological Warfare’

Tehran: The deputy head of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Sunday labeled the US naval deployment in the Persian Gulf as 'psychological warfare.'

According to Anadolu Agency, Brig. Gen. Ahmad Vahidi stated that enemy efforts to create a sense of imminent war are part of a broader psychological operation aimed at influencing public perception. He emphasized that Iran must not fall into this trap and that the country's activities should not be swayed by such psychological campaigns.

The top military commander further noted that the US naval buildup in the region is "not new and should be viewed within the same framework of psychological warfare." Vahidi assured that the Iranian armed forces are 'in an excellent state of preparedness,' with all enemy movements under continuous monitoring and surveillance.

Adding to the tension, US President Donald Trump announced on social media that a massive 'armada' was heading toward Iran, urging Tehran to enter negotiations immediately. This statement stirred speculation about a potential US military strike, prompting strong reactions from Iranian officials and hectic diplomatic activity in the region.

In a historical context, in June 2025, Israel, with US backing, launched a 12-day war against Iran. This conflict led to retaliatory drone and missile attacks from Tehran before Washington announced a ceasefire.
