Ankara: Mexico has undertaken a significant humanitarian effort by dispatching more than 800 tons of aid to Cuba, illustrating its enduring policy of support for Latin American countries, as announced by the nation's Foreign Ministry.
According to Anadolu Agency, two Mexican Navy logistical support vessels, the Papaloapan and Isla Holbox, have set sail from the port of Veracruz. These vessels are loaded with over 814 tons of provisions for the Cuban population, following directives from President Claudia Sheinbaum. Specifically, the Papaloapan is carrying 536 tons of essential food items and hygiene products, while the Isla Holbox is transporting over 277 tons of powdered milk. The journey to Cuba is anticipated to take four days.
The Mexican Foreign Ministry also revealed that an additional shipment of more than 1,500 tons of powdered milk and beans is planned for future delivery. This initiative is part of Mexico's commitment to humanitarian assistance and international cooperation, particularly with nations facing emergencies and vulnerabilities. The ministry emphasized the historical bond and solidarity between Cuba and Mexico, underscoring their shared heritage and commitment to mutual support.
