Washington: US President Donald Trump has announced that member states of the newly formed Board of Peace are set to pledge over $5 billion for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with the deployment of thousands of personnel for an international stabilization force. This announcement is scheduled to take place during a gathering on Thursday at the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump shared this information via his social media platform, Truth Social, stating that the pledges are a part of the humanitarian and reconstruction efforts for Gaza. He also mentioned that member states have committed personnel to the International Stabilization Force and local police to ensure security and peace for the residents of Gaza.

Trump emphasized the potential of the Board of Peace, recalling a recent gathering in Davos, Switzerland, where founding members celebrated its formation and discussed a vision for Gaza and beyond. He expressed his honor in serving as the chairman of what he believes will be a historically impactful international body.

Amidst these developments, reports have emerged about Indonesia's potential deployment of up to 8,000 troops to Gaza. This comes after the White House's announcement of a National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, part of Trump's 20-point plan aimed at transitioning power in the region.

A ceasefire agreement recently ended a two-year conflict in Gaza, which resulted in significant casualties and widespread infrastructure destruction. According to the UN, the cost of reconstruction is estimated at $70 billion. Despite the truce, ongoing violence has resulted in further casualties, as reported by Gaza's Health Ministry.
