Munich: Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan stated that the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip should be utilized to further the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within a two-state framework. Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Farhan emphasized Saudi Arabia's commitment to initiatives that aim to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, highlighting the kingdom's desire to achieve peace.

According to Anadolu Agency, Farhan remarked that the Gaza Peace Board, set up during the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire with its 20-point framework, must first ensure an end to hostilities and then support the Palestinian people's right to self-determination. He underscored that the ceasefire should be leveraged to restore stability, facilitate reconstruction, and make tangible progress towards Palestinian statehood, which he views as the sole path to enduring regional peace.

Shifting focus to Syria, Farhan noted that the country is adopting a constructive stance towards minorities and ethnic groups amid its challenging transition following years of civil war. He stated that reconstruction will be led by Syrians with regional and international support. Farhan also mentioned advancements in an agreement with the SDF group, aimed at respecting Kurdish rights, and expressed optimism that ongoing governmental progress will yield broader benefits.

Addressing broader regional instability, the Saudi minister observed that conflicts often exacerbate one another, pointing out how violence in Sudan has heightened tensions in nearby areas. He stressed the importance of addressing root causes and fostering coexistence, urging parties to transcend narrow interests that sustain unrest. Farhan concluded by suggesting that resolving clashes in Sudan between the army and the Rapid Support Forces could offer hope for greater regional stability.
