Iranian President Confirms US Talks Proceed With Khamenei’s Approval

Tehran: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that ongoing negotiations with the United States are being conducted with the approval of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. During a meeting with Iranian clerics, Pezeshkian emphasized that the discussions have the backing of the country's highest authority.

According to Anadolu Agency, Pezeshkian stated, "The negotiations are being carried out with the approval of the Leader of the Revolution," as reported by local Iranian newspaper Entekhab. He highlighted that Tehran's aim is not merely to engage in talks but to seek solutions to existing challenges, expressing optimism that the dialogue would lead to concrete outcomes.

Pezeshkian further mentioned that Iran continues to maintain strong relations with neighboring and Islamic countries, which has been instrumental in resolving several regional issues. These diplomatic ties have played a crucial role in addressing and mitigating regional conflicts and challenges.

The indirect nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington, which took place in Geneva under Omani mediation, marked a significant step in diplomatic efforts. The Iranian delegation was led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, while the US side was represented by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump's adviser Jared Kushner. Araghchi reported progress in the Geneva discussions.

Earlier, on February 6, Oman facilitated a round of indirect talks in Muscat against the backdrop of a US military buildup in the region, indicating the complexity and high stakes involved in the ongoing negotiations.
