Hamadan: Romanian President Nicusor Dan announced that Romania is prepared to evacuate 1,000 children from Gaza for medical treatment in Romanian hospitals. The announcement came as leaders convened in Washington, DC for the first meeting of US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace.
According to Anadolu Agency, President Dan expressed gratitude to President Trump for organizing the meeting and lauded the peace initiative as comprehensive and stable. He acknowledged the global desire for peace, stability, and prosperity in Gaza and emphasized the importance of determining effective actions to achieve these goals.
On humanitarian efforts, President Dan mentioned Romania’s readiness to increase flights to evacuate sick children from Gaza, with the potential to assist up to 4,000 family members. He highlighted Romania’s expertise in emergency response systems and its ability to aid in rebuilding these systems in Gaza, offering support in terms of infrastructure and equipment.
Furthermore, President Dan noted Romania’s ongoing scholarship programs for Palestinian students and expressed willingness to extend these programs. He also proposed assistance in rebuilding and refurbishing schools in Gaza, emphasizing institutional support as a crucial area of contribution. He stated Romania’s experience in reconstructing core state institutions such as the police, justice system, and public administration in other regions, offering experts and trainers to assist similar efforts in Gaza.
President Dan concluded by highlighting Romania’s historically positive relations with both Jewish and Palestinian communities, expressing confidence that this could facilitate progress toward peace. He assured that Romania could be relied upon in these efforts.
