Tehran: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday decried US and Israeli attacks targeting hospitals and schools in Iran as a 'blatant violation' of humanitarian principles, vowing his country 'will not remain silent or yield to these crimes.'

According to Anadolu Agency, Pezeshkian emphasized the severity of the situation, noting that attacks on hospitals strike at the core of life and attacks on schools threaten the future of the nation. He called for global condemnation of these actions and expressed solidarity with the grieving Iranian people.

At least 165 people were reported killed when Israeli and US warplanes hit a school in Minab city in Iran's southern Hormozgan province on Saturday. Iranian authorities have confirmed these casualties as part of ongoing hostilities.

The US and Israel's coordinated attacks on Iran resulted in over 550 fatalities, including high-profile figures such as Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and leading military officials. In response, Tehran launched a series of drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, US assets, and several Gulf countries, escalating tensions in the region.
