Kuwait city: The US Embassy in Kuwait on Monday advised people to stay clear of its compound following media reports of smoke observed in the area, amid increased security concerns.
According to Anadolu Agency, the embassy issued an updated security alert for US citizens in Kuwait, recommending they stay indoors, seek refuge at the lowest level possible, avoid windows, and refrain from traveling to the embassy due to an ongoing threat of missile and drone attacks. The mission emphasized, 'There is an ongoing threat of missile and drone (UAV) attacks in Kuwait. Do not travel to the U.S. Embassy.'
The embassy also advised US citizens to 'shelter in place, review security plans in the event of an attack, and stay alert in case of additional future attacks,' while noting that embassy personnel were also taking shelter.
Although media outlets have reported smoke rising from the vicinity of the embassy compound, no official statement has been released by authorities regarding the incident. Additionally, social media footage has surfaced, purportedly showing a US F-15 warplane crashing in Kuwait, but authorities have not confirmed the authenticity of the footage or reported any such incident.
