Doha: Qatar stated Tuesday that its current military actions are purely defensive measures against Iranian aggression and that it is not involved in the coordinated US-Israeli military operations targeting Iran.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Majed al-Ansari, emphasized Qatar's neutral position in the conflict by stating, "Qatar has not been part of the campaign targeting Iran. We are exercising our right in self-defense and deterring Iranian attacks against our country." Al-Ansari also encouraged media outlets to use credible Qatari sources when reporting on the situation.

The Qatari Defense Ministry reported that on Monday, its air defense systems successfully neutralized two Iranian SU-24 aircraft and intercepted a barrage of seven ballistic missiles and five drones aimed at the Gulf nation. This defensive posture underscores Qatar's commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty amidst heightened regional hostilities.

Tensions in the Middle East have surged following a large-scale offensive by the US and Israel on Iran last Saturday. The attack resulted in nearly 800 casualties, including Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Iran launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and several Gulf countries, which are key locations for US military assets.
