Ankara: Iran on Tuesday denied reports that it carried out a military attack on Oman, describing the Gulf state as a 'friend and neighbor.'

According to Anadolu Agency, Iran's Armed Forces General Staff stated that there had been no military strike on Omani territory, countering reports that suggested otherwise. The denial was issued following a report from the Oman News Agency, which announced that two drones were intercepted in the Dhofar Governorate in southern Oman, with a third crashing near Salalah Port.

The Oman News Agency, citing a security source, confirmed that the incident resulted in no casualties or material damage. Despite the lack of physical harm, the event has heightened tensions in a region already on edge.

The incident follows a significant escalation in regional tensions. The US and Israel recently launched a large-scale attack on Iran, resulting in the deaths of nearly 800 people, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Tehran has executed drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and Gulf countries that host US assets.
