Ankara: Trkiye's exports totaled $21.06 billion in February, marking a 1.6% increase compared to the same month last year, according to the Turkish trade minister's announcement on Tuesday. Omer Bolat addressed the press in Ankara, highlighting the country's achievements in boosting exports despite facing challenging international economic and geopolitical situations.

According to Anadolu Agency, Bolat noted that Trkiye's exports saw a year-on-year rise of $336 million in February. However, he pointed out that the growth could have been more significant if not for declines in specific sectors. He explained that there was a $415 million decrease in processed gold and jewelry exports, along with a $515 million drop in petroleum oils. Bolat remarked, "A decrease of approximately $1 billion in these two categories has hindered our ability to break major records."

In the first two months of the year, Trkiye's exports totaled $41.4 billion, reflecting a 1.2% decrease compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, the country's imports reached $30.27 billion in February, up by 6.1%, and amounted to $58.96 billion in the January-February period, indicating a 3.1% increase, as per data from the Trade Ministry.
