Riyadh: Saudi Arabia's Cabinet has declared its intention to take all necessary measures to protect its security and safeguard its territory, citizens, and residents as regional tensions heighten due to recent US-Israeli attacks on Iran and ensuing retaliatory strikes from Tehran. The Cabinet's statement came after a virtual session chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). The session involved reviewing recent developments and their implications for regional and international security.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Saudi Cabinet also examined recent diplomatic contacts concerning the ongoing crisis and commended statements from leaders of allied nations condemning the Iranian attacks on Saudi Arabia, other Gulf Cooperation Council states, and Jordan.

Qatar, meanwhile, has announced the dismantling of two cells linked to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) operating within its borders. The state-run Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported the arrest of ten suspects following extensive surveillance operations. Seven suspects were reportedly assigned espionage missions targeting 'vital and military facilities' in the country, while three others were tasked with conducting sabotage operations and had received training in using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Authorities seized sensitive facility locations, communication devices, and technological equipment during the operation.

In another development, US President Donald Trump has announced a complete severance of trade with Spain following Barcelona's prohibition of US utilization of bases on its territory for attacks on Iran. Trump made the statement during a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in the Oval Office. The Spanish government countered the claim, asserting that the US has neither used nor will use Spanish military bases for operations against Iran, emphasizing Madrid's full control over its sovereign facilities.
