Tashkent: Uzbekistan on Thursday condemned a drone strike on Azerbaijan's autonomous Nakhchivan exclave earlier in the day, calling it 'unacceptable.'

According to Anadolu Agency, during a phone conversation with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov stated that his counterpart informed him about the incident, which resulted in injuries among civilians and damage to infrastructure. Saidov emphasized that such actions are unacceptable, as they run counter to the principles of international law and violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of another state. He conveyed these remarks on Telegram.

The phone call comes as Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry reported that its exclave was hit by drones launched from Iran, with one drone striking the terminal building of Nakhchivan International Airport, and another falling near a school building in the village of Shakarabad. Azerbaijan condemned these drone attacks from Iranian territory, which caused damage to the airport building and injuries to two civilians.

Iranian authorities have not yet commented on the incident.
