Dubai: An Asian driver was killed Saturday evening after debris from an aerial interception fell onto a vehicle in the Al Barsha area of Dubai, authorities said.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Dubai Media Office stated that debris resulting from an aerial interception struck a vehicle in the area, leading to the driver's death. The authorities identified the deceased as an Asian national but provided no further details regarding the incident.

Earlier that same day, the Dubai Media Office reported that debris from an aerial interception had struck the facade of a tower in Dubai Marina. This incident, described by officials as 'minor,' was contained, and no injuries were reported.

The UAE Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday that its air defense systems had intercepted missiles and drones launched from Iran targeting the country. The interceptions were part of a broader regional conflict involving missile and drone attacks by Iran.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian had stated that Iran would refrain from attacking neighboring states unless provoked by attacks originating from their territories. However, Iran has been launching missiles and drones since February 28 toward Israel and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to civilian sites, including ports and residential buildings.

Tehran claims these attacks are retaliatory actions in response to a US-Israeli military campaign against Iran, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of hundreds of people, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and senior military officials.
