Dubai: The Emirates airline resumed flights at Dubai International Airport following a brief suspension. The airline had earlier announced a temporary halt to its operations.

According to Anadolu Agency, Dubai Media Office stated that Emirates airline would resume its operations on Saturday afternoon. Emirates also confirmed via a post on the US social media platform X that passengers with confirmed bookings for flights departing that afternoon could proceed to the airport. This update also applies to transit passengers traveling through Dubai, on the condition that their onward flights are operational.

Dubai International Airport had earlier suspended operations temporarily to ensure the safety of passengers, staff, and airline crews. Emirati authorities dismissed social media reports alleging that the airport had been attacked, clarifying that a 'limited incident' had been addressed without any injuries. UAE authorities did not disclose further details about the nature of the incident or the suspension's duration.

The incident comes in the backdrop of tensions in the region, with Iran launching missiles and drones toward Israel and Gulf countries, including those with US military assets, since February 28. Some attacks have resulted in casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure. Tehran claims these actions are retaliatory measures against a US-Israeli military campaign that has caused significant losses, including the deaths of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and senior military officials.
