Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by phone with his US counterpart Donald Trump about the conflict in Iran and trilateral negotiations with Ukraine, said Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov. The call, initiated by Trump, lasted about an hour, and was described by the Kremlin statement as 'businesslike, frank and constructive.'

According to Anadolu Agency, the conversation primarily focused on the ongoing situation in Iran and the trilateral negotiations involving Ukraine, with US representatives participating in the discussions. Ushakov highlighted that Putin shared several considerations aimed at achieving a speedy political and diplomatic resolution to the Iranian conflict.

The US president, in turn, provided his assessment of the situation in light of the ongoing American-Israeli operation. Ushakov noted that there was a substantive and useful exchange of views on this matter. Additionally, Trump reiterated his interest in securing a swift ceasefire and a long-term resolution in Ukraine.

The discussion also touched upon Venezuela, particularly concerning the state of affairs in the global oil market. Ushakov emphasized that this was the first phone conversation between Putin and Trump since December 2025, and both leaders expressed their readiness to maintain regular communications.
