Pyongyang: US Central Command: US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported Monday that American forces have struck more than 5,000 targets in Iran during the first 10 days of strikes, targeting locations deemed to pose an imminent threat.

According to Anadolu Agency, the campaign, named Operation Epic Fury, has resulted in the damage or destruction of over 50 Iranian ships. The operation involves a wide array of US military assets, including strategic bombers, fighter jets, attack aircraft, drones, missile defense systems, naval forces, and surveillance platforms. These efforts are supported by refueling and cargo aircraft, specialized communication, and counter-drone capabilities.

The targets of these strikes have included Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) headquarters, command and control centers, intelligence sites, integrated air defense systems, and facilities for ballistic missile and drone production, as well as naval and missile assets. CENTCOM has indicated that additional specialized capabilities are also part of the operation, though specific details remain undisclosed.

The military campaign escalated following joint strikes by Israel and the US on Iran on February 28, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,300 individuals, including former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In response, Iran has conducted drone and missile strikes against targets in Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and various Gulf nations hosting US military assets.

Additionally, Iran effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz around March 1, a crucial waterway that typically manages the transit of around 20 million barrels of oil daily and approximately 20% of the global liquefied natural gas trade.
